Benefits of membership

Your membership in the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction will serve as evidence to management and policyholders alike of your commitment to safety and to control the overall cost of property insurance. All licensed insurers who write property or casualty insurance in Canada and all licensed reinsurers who reinsure those risks are eligible for membership in the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR). All others are eligible for Associate Membership.

Our insurer and reinsurer members pay dues annually according to their company's net written premiums. Members will be assessed $2,000 each year plus $20 per million of direct written premium in the previous year, and half this rate for assumed premium.

Membership also brings you these benefits:

  • Eligibility to serve on ICLR's Board of Directors.
  • Each member shall be entitled to one vote on each matter submitted to a vote of the membership.
  • Eligibility to participate on ICLR committees.
  • Access to ICLR analyses, publications and research papers.
  • Direct access to ICLR staff, library and other resources.
  • Advance information and reduced fees for admission to all conferences and workshops.
